Frequently asked questions

The small questions that come up often — you'll find the rest on the The House and Your Stay pages.

🧺 Laundry & washing machine

The washing machine is in the laundry room. Please leave used linens there before you leave.

🗑️ Bins

The bins are in the street, just past the mailboxes.

⚡ Power cut

It happens sometimes. No need to worry: the whole kitchen runs on gas (oven, stovetop, coffee maker...), so you can carry on as normal while waiting for power to come back.

🛋️ The sofa bed

The living room sofa converts into an extra bed (140 x 200) and has its own mosquito net, like all the beds in the house.

🏊 The pool

All the rules (safety, upkeep, saltwater) are detailed on the The House page.

🦟 Insects & humidity

We're in Martinique: a few mosquitoes and yen-yen (tiny sand flies, active at dawn and dusk) are part of the scenery, as is the ambient humidity — nothing to worry about. Keep food well covered, and if hot water seems to act up after several showers in a row, give it a moment: the tank holds 150L (details on the The House page).

🌀 Tropical storm & hurricane

Martinique is in a cyclone zone. The season officially runs from June 1 to November 30, peaking between August and October. A major event remains rare, and what matters most is simply knowing what to do if an alert is issued.

Stay informed

Follow the official weather alerts at meteofrance.mq. Levels rise gradually: storm alert, hurricane pre-alert, then hurricane alert.

Close the shutters

As soon as an alert is announced, close all the shutters in the house (see the Your Stay page for how they work) and stay away from windows and glass doors.

In case of an imminent alert

Stay sheltered, do not go outside under any circumstances, and if needed take refuge in the safest room of the house — without windows if possible.

Any doubt, an alert underway? Contact us directly — we'll guide you in real time.
